Governors

Every school has a governing body. They meet at least once a term to make decisions on how the school is run. This involves:

  • Deciding what is taught
  • Setting standards of conduct
  • Interviewing and selecting staff
  • Deciding how the school budget is spent
  • Ensuring the school complies with all its legal obligations
  • Monitoring and evaluating the work of the school

Our Governing Body consists of:

  • 2 Parent Governors – Mrs G Hayre & Ms L Walker
  • 2 Members of Staff (Including the Headteacher) – Mrs R Patel & Miss G Hodson
  • 1 Governor appointed by the Local Authority – Miss N Hart
  • 6 Governors from the community – Mrs B Albert, Mr R Wright, Miss N Hart, Mrs E Maher & Mr N Markham +1 to be appointment.

Governors hold an important public office and their identity should be known to their school and wider communities. In the interests of transparency, please see the information below detailing:-

Meet the Governors

Barbara Albert

Chair of the Governing Body

I am a retired Headteacher and currently an Education Consultant, Counsellor & Chairperson of The National Headteacher Support Organisation.

I am a Churchwarden for a group of Church of England churches in Worcestershire and an active member of the local Christian Aid committee.

I am a passionate advocate for primary education & the development of children living in our multicultural society.

Gemma Hodson

I am the appointed staff governor here at County Bridge having taught in Year 2, Year 5 and now currently teaching in Year 6. For the past 6 years, I have also been the subject leader for English across the school as well as a KS2 local authority approved moderator for writing this year. I have worked at County Bridge School for 11 years now and have been on the wonderful journey to where we currently are today. I enjoy my role as Staff Governor and my experience within teaching and leadership have provided me with the skills set needed to ensure that with my position on the Governing Body we continue to drive the school forward and achieve the very best for all children that step through our doors.

Nicola Hart

I was born in Northamptonshire & moved to the West Midlands to start my teaching degree at the age of 18.

I worked as a teacher for about 20 years & then went on to work across Children’s Services, in Sandwell & Walsall, mainly running Special Needs Services & in an Early Years advisory role.

I have seen the improvements made at County Bridge School over the last few years & was happy to join the Governing Body at such an ambitious, high achieving, well run & caring school.

Richard Wright

I work for Blakemore Retail as an Assistant Manager and have done so for 11 years.

I am currently the Link Governor for PE and Mathematics & I am committed to helping the school further succeed by bringing the skills and knowledge from my day-to-day job role.

Lorna Morris

I began my teaching career in Walsall and taught for over 17 years as a class teacher and English Coordinator.

I have also worked as a Literacy Consultant for Walsall Children’s Services, and later, as an Independent English Advisor supporting teachers and pupils, across Walsall and the West Midlands, with all aspects of Literacy.

During my time as an Independent English Advisor, I was fortunate to work alongside the hard working teachers and pupils at County Bridge and was therefore delighted to join the Governing Body of such a motivational, high-achieving and nurturing school.

I am passionate about children’s learning and have a special interest in all aspects of Literacy. In my role as Link Governor I am committed to supporting the staff and pupils of County Bridge to continue to achieve their goals.
