Governors

Every school has a governing body. The Governing Body of this school meet at least once a term to discuss and agree strategic decisions on how the school is led and managed. This involves:

  • Ensuring the curriculum is broad and balanced
  • Setting standards of conduct
  • Interviewing and selecting staff
  • Understanding how the school budget is spent to ensure good value for money
  • Ensuring the school complies with all its legal obligations
  • Monitoring and evaluating the work of the school and securing accountability via support and challenge

Our Governing Body consists of:

  • 2 parent governors – Mrs G Hayre & Ms L Walker
  • 2 staff members (including the Headteacher) – Mrs R Patel & Miss G Hodson
  • 1 governor appointed by the Local Authority – Mr Milo Perkins
  • 6 governors from the community – Mrs B Albert, Mrs B Farrington, Mrs L Morris, Mrs E Maher & Mr N Markham and Mr K Peel.

Governors hold an important public office and their identity should be known to their school and wider communities. In the interests of transparency, please see the information below detailing:-

Meet Our Governors...

Mrs B Albert

Chair of the Governing Body

Link Governor for Safeguarding, Attendance and Thematic Curriculum

I am a retired Headteacher and currently an education consultant and counsellor.

I am chair of a local Christian Aid Committee. I am involved in the Church of England and organise for funerals and memorial services into churches.

I am a passionate advocate for Primary and Special Education and the development of children in a multi-cultural society.

I have been the Chair of Governors at County Bridge Primary School for the last 5 years.

Mrs E Maher

Vice Chair of the Governing Body

Link Governor for Early Years and Governor Training

I have been a governor at County Bridge for two years now, and I am enjoying my role very much and hope that I bring my skills and experience to the school as I work with the other governors.

I am a retired primary school Headteacher, having spent most of my working life in the teaching profession. I believe very much in social justice, equality of opportunity for all and in celebrating and enjoying our lovely diverse community in Walsall. I grew up not far from County Bridge and went to local schools. I left school at fifteen, and trained to teach after I had my family.

I am a product of the belief in social justice and equality, and try to bring those principles to my work in governance at County Bridge.

Mrs L Morris

Link Governor for English, RE & Art

I have been a Governor at County Bridge Primary School since 2022 and currently serve as the Link Governor, for English, Religious Education and (most recently) Art.

I have worked in Education, both as a class teacher and as an English Advisor, supporting teachers and pupils, across Walsall and the West Midlands. During this time, I was fortunate to work alongside the hard-working teachers and pupils at County Bridge Primary and was therefore delighted to join the Governing Body of such a motivational, high-achieving and nurturing school.

I am passionate about children’s learning and have a special interest in all aspects of Literacy. In my role as Link Governor, I help to monitor curriculum development and ensure that standards remain high.

It is an absolute privilege to support a school that promotes kindness, resilience and responsibility, and I am committed to working alongside leaders to ensure that all of the pupils at County Bridge achieve their very best.

Miss G Hodson

Link Governor for PE

I am proud to serve as a Staff Governor at County Bridge Primary School, as well as a Link Governor for Physical Education. Within school, I lead on English, a role that provides me with a strong understanding of teaching and learning, curriculum development, and the importance of maintaining high standards across the school. This experience enables me to contribute effectively to governance by offering informed insight, asking purposeful questions, and supporting strategic decision-making.

I was motivated to become a governor because I am passionate about being part of driving the school forward, ensuring the best possible outcomes for every child who attends County Bridge, regardless of their background. I am committed to supporting the school’s continuous development and helping to ensure that all pupils are given the best opportunities that they need in order to succeed.

As a staff member, I see first-hand how highly valued staff are at County Bridge and how the children are truly at the heart of everything that we do. It is an inclusive, nurturing environment where high expectations and care go hand in hand. I am immensely proud to be part of the school community and to contribute to its ongoing success.

Mrs B Farrington

Link Governor for Mathematics and Health & Safety

I have only recently joined the Governing Body - commencing my term of office in January 2026. Whilst there is a lot to learn I am thoroughly enjoying the role.

Until December 2025 I was employed, at the school, as the School Business Manager - a position I held for over twenty years until my retirement. I hope that my knowledge of the school & the local community will prove valuable going forward.

It will be a privilege to support the pupils, staff, parents & fellow governors in the continued development of this amazing school.

Mr M Perkins

Link Governor for Inclusion

As a governor at County Bridge Primary, I am committed to supporting the school in helping every child thrive through high expectations, inclusive practice and a focus on achieving positive outcomes for all pupils.

Having previously served as Chair of Governors at a large primary academy, I understand the value of effective governance in helping to shape the school’s direction and supporting leaders in delivering its vision.

I appreciate the important role the school plays within the local community and am proud to work alongside fellow governors, school leaders and families to build strong partnerships that support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and continued development.
